JESUS SAID: I Forgive Your Sins

Good morning. So what’s on your mind right now? Are you struggling? Are you tired? Are you discouraged? Are you hurting? Do you feel like you can’t get a break in anything you do?

Jesus has just one thing to say to you today: “I forgive your sins.” That’s it!

Can you imagine how the paraplegic in Mark 2:1-5 (MSG) felt when Jesus said that to him. The story goes like this: “After a few days, Jesus returned to Capernaum, and word got around that he was back home. A crowd gathered, jamming the entrance so no one could get in or out. He was teaching the Word. They brought a paraplegic to him, carried by four men. When they weren’t able to get in because of the crowd, they removed part of the roof and lowered the paraplegic on his stretcher. Impressed by their bold belief, Jesus said to the paraplegic, ‘Son, I forgive your sins.’”

Did you notice how Jesus referred to the man. He said “Son”. Son. That is so personal and familiar. Can you hear Jesus’ voice call you right now? “Son.” “Daughter.”

And then Jesus said “I forgive your sins.” Wow. Imagine hearing Jesus say to you, “_________________(fill in your own name), I forgive your sins.”

You know, that statement Jesus made wasn’t met with great excitement by the religious scholars who were sitting nearby observing every move Jesus made. But to that man, it was a life changer. To even the crowd it was miraculous and incredible.

Jesus then told the man, after He had said his sins were forgiven, to get up, pick up his stretcher, and go home. And the man did. He got up and went home.

Do you think the man was burdened with anything after what just happened to him? I don’t think so. I think he was skipping and jumping, and hugging everyone he came in contact with. I think that he kept telling his story to everyone who would listen that he was a free man, spiritually, socially, emotionally, mentally, and physically.

You see, when we get close to Jesus a miracle happens, not just in one aspect of our lives, in all. So today, if you are struggling on your own, reach out to a friend to help you get closer to Jesus, then listen for your name. You don’t here it. Ask a friend to help to get you even closer.

For the paraplegic he was carried by his four friends to where Jesus was, and they lowered him through the roof and he landed right in front of Jesus, and Jesus gave the man what he needed in all areas of his life, just because of his and his four friends’ bold belief (Mark 2:1-5).

So, right now, check in with what you are thinking and hearing. Instead of listening to your negative thoughts, listen to Jesus! “____________ (fill in your name), I forgive your sins. Get up. Pick up your stretcher and go home.”
