Is there such a thing as “black and white”, “good and bad”, right or wrong”? Have you seen the increase in “gray area”, or the lack of commitment to moral or ethical standards. More and more, the “Good” and “right” are questioned to the point, at times, that “bad” and “wrong” are justified or tolerated.
Research has shown that when kids and adults are guided toward positive behavior, they are more likely to lead happy, positively-motivated lives. Failure to guide toward the good and the right actually causes kids to be unhappy, angry, and resentful. When not given boundaries, people fail to grow into appropriate behavior, and are more likely to be selfish, have a lack empathy, have poor nutrition, and hurt others both emotionally and physically.
Jesus was on the cutting edge of leading people to right, good, and solid positive behavior when He said: “Why do you question me about what’s good? God is the One who is good. If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you” (Matthew 19:27 MSG).
Did you hear that? He actually said what is good. God is the One who is Good, and Jesus’ advice is to do what He says.
Read Joel 2:26-27 (MSG): You’ll eat your fill of good food. You’ll be full of praises to your God, The God who has set you back on your heels in wonder. Never again will my people be despised. You’ll know without question that I’m in the thick of life with Israel, That I’m your God, yes, your God, the one and only real God. Never again will my people be despised.
Also read what 1 Peter 5:8-11 (MSG) says: Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith.
Now read Acts 27:17 (MSG): “‘I’m sending you off to open the eyes of the outsiders so they can see the difference between dark and light, and choose light, see the difference between Satan and God, and choose God.
The Bible clearly states that God is Good, and the devil is bad. God is right, and the devil is wrong. God is Light, and the devil is darkness.
You know, in today’s world, it’s not politically correct to say “no” or “good” or “bad”. It’s not socially acceptable to have an opinion. But Jesus did. Jesus was not a push-over. Jesus was a radical, in His time and even now.
Remember, Jesus asked: “Why do you question me about what’s good? God is the One who is good. If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you” (Matthew 19:27 MSG).
Today, ponder taking a stand on God’s side. Explore walking in the light, the Light of God’s Word. See that God is good. Don’t worry about what others are doing. Just do this for you. Do this because God asks you to. And then let Him take care of the rest.
